Make a vote revolution, Dr Kamal to countrymen

Dhaka, Dec 27 (Just News): Jatiya Oikyafront key leader Dr Kamal Hossain on Thursday called for a “revolution of vote” in favour of “Sheaf of Paddy”, the electoral symbol of BNP, in the parliamentary elections slated for December 30.

Urging the voters to cast their vote for “Sheaf of Paddy”, Dr Kamal said, “The symbol (Sheaf of Paddy) does not belong to any party, it stands as the symbol of unity. So, cast your votes for this symbol to free the nation.”

Kamal was talking to reporters after an emergency meeting of steering committee of the major opposition alliance at his chamber in Purana Paltan area this afternoon, just two days ahead of the general elections.

Dr Kamal, also the president of Gono Forum, vowed to stick to the election race and urged the countrymen to take part in the “revolution of vote” by exercising their franchise on December 30.

He said, “The ownership of the people over the country will be restored through revolution of vote.”

“The people will have to decide this Sunday whether or not they want change,” Dr Kamal, one of the architects of the country’s Constitution, further said.
"We won in the past; we'll achieve victory this time, too. December 30 will be another victory day. You'll stage a vote revolution on December 30," he said.

"We'll achieve a victory... and it’ll not be any party’s victory, it'll be people's victory - the victory of all," he added.

"There's nothing to fear. [We] fought against autocrats throughout the life; we won, not the autocrats. There would have been no 1971 and no Bangladesh had the autocrats won."

Mentioning that the people of Bangladesh never bowed down to arms, money and power, Dr Kamal hoped that people will not be defeated this time either.

Speaking at the same press conference, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “The government has already experienced a moral defeat as they are trying to ensure their victory using the state mechanism.”

Apart from the duo, Krishak Sramik Janata League President Kader Siddiqui, Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury, Gonoforum Executive President Subrata Chowdhury, among others, were present.
