CEC divulges truth of midnight poll: BNP

Opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Saturday said that Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda ‘accidentally’ stated the real truth of ‘midnight’ stuffing of ballot boxes on the night before the voting day of 11th parliamentary polls.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news briefing at the party’s central office said KM Nurul Huda could not check the cat of the bag too many days, adding that the real incidents now started to come out of Pandora box.

Rizvi was referring to the observation of Chief Election Commissioner, who recently commented that the risk of stuffing ballot box on the night before the polling day would reduce if the Electronic Voting Machine was introduced.

The BNP leader questioned whether the chief election commissioner had directed to stuffing the ballot boxes on December 29 night to justify the necessity of spending thousands crores of public money on EVM project.

Rizvi said that the CEC’s statement would remain as an ‘important document’ to the nation.

‘You [CEC] have accomplished the transparent fraudulence and grand vote rigging on December 29 night,’ he said, insisting that the Chief Election Commissioner must give an answer to the common people.
