Govt in mega looting from mega projects: BNP

Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday said that the government had snatched away all the rights of the country’s people and now were involved in mega looting from mega projects.

While inaugurating the May Day procession of the party’s labour front Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal in front of BNP’s Naya Paltan central office in the capital in the morning, Fakhrul termed the government a corrupt one and called on people to wage resistance against it.

‘They are looting share market and banks and indulged in mega lootings in the name of mega projects,’ he said.

‘The working class people’s money is extracted through tax and the government, with that money, construct Padma Bridge and Karnaphuli tunnel which are totally unnecessary, he said.

He alleged that the government had looted people’s right to vote and now loots right to food.

He called for forging unity of labourers and the common people to protect the country’s democracy, independence and sovereignty as well as ensuring the citizen’s survival.

He said that the government is increasing the prices of all the commodities to legalise their corruption while the labourers are getting neither their due honour nor proper wages.

Presided over by Sramik Dal president Anwar Hossain, the rally was also addressed by BNP senior secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Sramik Dal general secretary Nurul Islam Nasim, among others.
