BNP expresses concern over ‘bomb-like bottle’ found at BSMMU

BNP on Thursday expressed deep concern at the news of recovering ‘petrol-bomb like bottle’ in front of the registrar’s office on the second floor of the administrative building of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the party was deeply concerned at the news.

He said this at an emergency press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office in the evening.

‘BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is now undergoing treatment at BSMMU. The nation is surprised at the news of recovery of a bomb in front of the registrar’s office of the administrative building while the BNP chief and former prime minister is undergoing treatment,’ he said.

He doubted whether the incident was part of a master plan and questioned how miscreants could keep a bomb while the BSMMU had its own security personnel.

Rizvi wanted to know the reason behind the weak security system at BSMMU.

He said that the recovery of the bomb at BSUUM proved that the government was either not paying heed to the security of Khaleda Zia or the act was committed as per any other blue print.

He expressed concern about the security and life of Khaleda Zia and demanded to strengthen her security and proper treatment.

Shahbagh police station officer-in-charge Md Abul Hasan said that a team of police seized the ‘petrol-bomb like bottle’ early in the morning.

Imprisoned Khaleda Zia is now undergoing treatment at a cabin at a separate building at BSMMU.
