DMP allows BNP to hold rally on Saturday

Bangladesh Nationalist Party has got permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police to hold a rally in front of the party's central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan area on Saturday.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed this to media on Friday morning.

‌‘The authorities of DMP have permitted arranging the demonstration in front of the BNP head office tomorrow (Saturday),’ he said.

Earlier on Tuesday, BNP announced a two-day programme, including the rally on Saturday, demanding BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release, marking the second anniversary of her imprisonment.

Following the announcement, a BNP team led by its publicity affairs secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie met with the DMP commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam on Thursday night.

As part of the programmes, the party arranged doa mahfils in mosques after Jum’a prayers on Friday seeking early recovery of Khaleda as she has been suffering from various critical ailments.

Besides, BNP will hold the rally in front of its central office on Saturday. The party’s all district units set to stage demonstrations on the same day. It will also publish posters and leaflets on the occasion.
