The countries who can strengthen the US’s global effort to protect democracy are invited to President Joe Biden’s upcoming Democracy Summit.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said this on Thursday at a regular briefing to clarify the country’s position for not inviting a few countries, including Bangladesh, in the summit.

Bangladesh democracy is very fragile and going through an authoritarian regime more than a decade.

At the briefing Jen Psaki said, “We invited leaders and other private sector leaders to have a discussion about democracy. It does not mean that everyone invited is a sample for the approval on. Every democracy is working progress. It does not mean that we are giving positive stamps who are joining and negative stamps who are not invited.”

“This is just meant to be includes and invite as different voices and countries who can speak to our global effort to protect democracy.”
