White House to look into ailing Khaleda’s issue in details: Jen Psaki

White House correspondent

White House will look into the matter of Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s illness issue in detail.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said this on Wednesday in response to a question at a regular briefing about the inhumane attitude of the ruling government toward ailing former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

At the briefing, White House Correspondent M Mushfiqul Fazal asked , “ I want to ask about Bangladesh. As the country is running by a authoritarian regime, more than a decade. Country’s main opposition leader and first women prime minister of Bangladesh Khaleda Zia now is in a life and death situation. She was in jail, according to state department report, it’s a political plot to remove her from the political process. So what is your comment on Bangladesh situation and what is your observation on this situation as the former prime minister and main opposition leader is in life and death situation. She’s not getting proper treatment and government is not allowing her to go abroad as the civil society political party and her family urged to the ruling government to send her abroad for the better treatment. So may I ask a comment on that.

In reply Jen Psaki said, “Absolutely. I appreciate your question. I haven’t had a chance to talk to our national security team about this issue. So let me do that. And I’d also point you to the state department who would be in close touch with authorities there and may have a more detailed comment.”
