Kazi Salahuddin has been elected as the president of Bangladesh Football Federation for a fourth consecutive term following a landslide victory at the BFF Elective Congress at Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel in Dhaka today.
The former national captain secured 94 votes to beat Badal Roy (40) and Shafiqul Islam Manik (1) comfortably, according to an unofficial announcement from the BFF secretariat. One hundred and thirty five councillors out of a total of 139 cast their votes.
Abdus Salam Murshedy, the second-man of the Salahuddin-led combned panel, was elected as senior vice-president again as he secured 91 votes against 44 secured by his competitor Sheikh Mohammad Aslam.
There was fierce competition, though, for the four vice-president posts. Bashundhara Kings' president Imrul Hasan bagged highest 89 votes while Kazi Nabil Ahmed and Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan bagged 81 and 75 votes respectively to get elected. All three of them running for the Combined Panel.
The fourth vice-president's post produced a tie between Mohiuddin Ahmed and Tabith Awaal with 65 votes each. There will be a re-vote between the two for this position, according to BFF constitution.
