Sourav Ganguly, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and former captain of the national team, was taken to Apollo Hospital in south Kolkata today, after he complained of chest pain, family sources said.
Ganguly, 48, was taken to the corporate hospital this afternoon after he felt pain in the chest last night, they said, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
Accompanied by his wife Dona and brother Snehasish, Sourav was taken to the hospital in his personal vehicle whose journey from his residence in Behala to the Apollo Hospital on Eastern Metropolitan Bypass was facilitated through a "green corridor" -- which means all traffic signals were temporarily stopped and other vehicular traffic movement was curtailed.
Ganguly was released from Woodland Hospital, also in south Kolkata, on January 7 after undergoing treatment for six days for a "mild" heart attack.
During his treatment in Woodland Hospital, a stent was implanted in one of his arteries which had more than 90 percent blockage. Reports have it his other two arteries also have substantial blockage.
