Ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan made a well made 68 to help Bangladesh get past 300 in the first session of the second day of their first Test against West Indies at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong on Thursday.

Hosts resumed on 242-5 and Shakib, who was not out on 39 overnight, reached his 50 in a cautious manner after his partner Liton Das got perished early in the day leaving the side on 248-6.

Shakib on his return in Test after serving one-year ban, however, got dismissed in a soft manner when he tried to cut a Rahkeem Cornwall delivery just to give an easy catch to visiting captain Kraigg Brathwaite.

Mehedi Hasan, who added 67 with Shakib, saw off the remaining 37 ballas with Taijul Islam(five) as Bangladesh went to lunch on 328-7.
