Saber slams Nazmul for team's failure in T20 WC

Former Bangladesh Cricket Board president Saber Hossain Chowdhury is the latest to come forward with strong criticism of Bangladesh’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2021.

Current member of the parliament, Saber Friday took to his verified social media account to blame the current BCB president Nazmul Hasan for the failures of Bangladesh cricket.

Saber, who was chief of Bangladesh cricket from 1996 to 2001, also said BCB's longest serving president Nazmul is the reason why the cricket of the country has run to the ground.

“Bangladesh has now played 4 World Cups under Mr Papon, things have gone bad to worse. Longest serving President has also been the most incompetent. It is always someone else’s fault as he has run our cricket to the ground. Shame that we have a shameless @BCBtigers. #T20WorldCup,” Saber tweeted.

Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup this year played eight matches and won only two.

The couple of wins had come in the qualifying round against ICC associate team Oman and Papua New Guinea on the back of a humiliating defeat to Scotland in the first game.

Bangladesh entered the Super 12s as Group B runners-up and lost all five games.

They were close to wins in two games, against Sri Lanka and the West Indies, but had snatched defeat from the jaws of victory due to dramatic mistakes on the field.

The performance of the team triggered heavy criticism of the players, team management and the board.
