Pakistan 188/2, day 2 play called off due to rain

The second day's play between hosts Bangladesh and visiting Pakistan has been called off due to rain at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla national cricket stadium on Sunday.

The first session was called off and play eventually started after the lunch session where only 6.2 overs were bowled before rain interrupted again. Pakistan were batting on 188/2 after 63.2 overs before rain interrupted and eventually the day 2 play was called off around 3pm local time.

Babar Azma is batting on 71 while Azhar Ali is unbeaten on 52.

Earlier on day one, Pakistan have scored 161 runs losing two wickets after 57 overs against hosts Bangladesh before bad light stopped day's play.

Taijul Islam made the breakthrough for Tigers by taking the wicket of Abdullah Shafique (25) in 19th over. Later Taijul also removed in-form Abid Ali (39) during 25th over.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam was batting on 60 while Azhar Ali was unbeaten on 36 at day one closing.

Meanwhile, opening batsman Mahmudul Hasan Joy made his debut as Bangladesh made three changes in their playing eleven from the first Test.

Pacer Khaled Hossain has replaced Abu Jayed Chowdhury Rahi and Mahmudul Hasan is playing instead of Saif Hassan.

Ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has also returned to the playing eleven replacing Yasir Ali Rabbi.
