Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday rested all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan from all forms of cricket till 30 April.
BCB came up with this decision following a meeting at BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon's Dhanmondi office in Dhaka.
BCB Cricket Operations Committee chairman Jalal Yunus said, "We want Shakib in all forms of cricket. But he sought rest from the South Africa tour. Forcing him to play should not be fair. Considering the matter, we have taken this decision."
BCL officials will sit with Shakib Al Hasan on 11 March to know his future plan concerning cricket, he added.
