Women’s Asia Cup: Bangladesh suffer heavy defeat against Pakistan

Defending champions Bangladesh suffered a nine wicket loss against Pakistan during their Women’s Asia Cup match at Sylhet International cricket stadium in Sylhet on Monday morning.

Pakistan won the toss and elect to field first and their bowlers were on top from the beginning as Bangladesh lost key wickets in crucial moments.

Eventually, Bangladesh managed to score only 70 runs from their stipulated 20 overs losing eight wickets.

Salma Khatun was the top scorer with an unbeaten 24 run innings while captain Nigar Sultana scored 17.

Diana Baig and Nida Dar picked two wickets each for Pakistan.

In reply, Pakistan top order batted dominantly and reached their target with ease losing just one wicket in 12.2 overs.

 

Bangladesh managed to take only Muneeba Ali’s wicket as Sidra Amin was not out on 36 while Bismah Maroof was batting on 12 when Pakistan clinched a dominating win.

Bangladesh, who won their first match against Thailand by nine wickets, will play their next match against Malaysia on Thursday.
