Cricketer Al-Amin granted permanent bail

The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-8 of Dhaka on Tuesday granted Bangladesh national cricket team member Al-Amin Hossain permanent bail in a domestic violence case filed by his wife.

Judge Begum Mafroza Parvin of the tribunal passed the order after he had surrendered before the court.

Al-Amin, complying a High Court order, surrendered before the court in the morning and sought bail.

On September 6, a HC bench granted the cricketer an eight-week anticipatory bail and ordered him to surrender after expiry of the bail period.

On September 1, cricketer Al-Amin's wife Israt Jahan lodged a complaint with Mirpur Police Station against him over torturing her for dowry. Later, police registered a case.

According to the case statement, Al-Amin married Israt on December 26, 2012, and his wife gave birth to two sons.

Israt also alleged that Al-Amin did not provide her maintenance and educational expenses for the two sons for many days, it said.

Al-Amin demanded Tk 20 lakh as dowry from his wife and used to beat her as she had refused to pay the amount. He also drove her out of the house with their two children on August 25, it added.

On September 3, Al Amin sent a message to Israt that he would not provide her maintenance and divorced her.
