Dhaka, Nov 24 (Just News): A Taijul Islam five-for lead Bangladesh's fightback as the hosts defeated West Indies by 64 runs on day three of the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in the two match series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium. West Indies were set a target of 204 to win and eventually bowled out for 139 runs. Captain Shakib al Hasan became the first Bangladeshi to take 200 Test wickets and the quickest to reach the double of 200 Test wickets and 3000 Test runs.
Bangladesh started the day against visitors West Indies at 55/5 with Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehedi Hasan Miraz batting. However, on a pitch becoming increasingly difficult to bat on, wickets fell at regular intervals and the hosts were eventually bundled out cheaply for 125 runs in the second innings. Mahmudullah played a counter-attacking innings and top scored with 31 while leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo was the best bowler for the visitors taking 4-26
Earlier, the Tigers won the toss and decided to bat on a bowler friendly surface and posted 324 runs in the first innings. In reply, the Windies scored 246 runs before losing all of their wickets and giving the hosts a lead of 78 runs. .
