As the first-ever cricketer in the history, Shakib Al Hasan has completed 1000 runs and 30 wickets in the World Cups. This is now the best-ever all-round performance in the history of World Cups.
It was Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya who scored 1000-plus runs and took 25-plus wickets in the World Cups as the first cricketer.
In the seventh match of Bangladesh in the World Cup against Afghanistan on Monday, Shakib hit 51 to complete his 1000 World Cup runs. After that, scalping the wicket of Mohammad Nabi, he completed 30 wickets as well. Later, he took one more wicket.
Shakib has been doing well in this World Cup in England and Wales. He kicked off the tournament hitting 75 against South Africa. After that, he hit two consecutive centuries and two more fifties as well.
Along the process, he completed 476 runs in the World Cup, which is also the record of scoring most runs in a single international cricket event by a Bangladeshi batsman.
In the match against Afghanistan, Shakib also became the most run scorer in the ongoing World Cup. He surpassed Australia’s David Warner who scored 447 in six matches. Shakib has now 476 in six matches as well.
