Sherman speaks with Shahriar: US urges for fair polls, embassy personnel safety

The United States urged Bangladesh authorities to create an environment of holding free and fair elections, and ensuring the safety and security of U.S. embassy personnel.

Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman spoke on the phone on Thursday with State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Shahriar Alam, said in a press release issued by the State Department Spokesperson Ned Price. 

He said, “the Deputy Secretary and State Minister discussed strengthening U.S.-Bangladeshi relations, the importance of holding free and fair elections, and the safety and security of U.S. embassy personnel.”
