The High Court bench of Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman and Justice Md Zakir Hossain delivered the verdict on Monday (June 2).
The court also upheld the life sentences of six other accused in the same case.
At the same time, the court upheld the order for each accused to pay a fine of Tk 50,000.
The court had earlier fixed June 2 as the date to announce the verdict after the conclusion of the death reference and appeal hearings, which ended on May 29.
Former inspector Liaquat shot dead Major (retd) Sinha at the Shamlapur check post on the night of July 31, 2020. Her sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case five days later. RAB submitted the charge sheet on December 13 that year against 15 people, describing the murder as a ‘planned killing’.
On January 31, 2022, Cox’s Bazar’s District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Ismail sentenced Pradeep and Liakat to death and six others to life imprisonment, including three policemen and three informants.
