The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit on Wednesday sought bank account details of actor and content creator Salman Mohammad Muqtadir, asking all banks to provide the information within an hour.
The financial intelligence agency sent an email to all banks at 11:45am on Wednesday seeking the information and instructed them to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the matter.
The BFIU asked banks to provide details of all accounts held in Muqtadir's name, along with the Know Your Customer information maintained for those accounts.
It also sought details of interest income earned through each account and the tax deducted at source.
The BFIU did not disclose the reason for seeking the information in the email.
On Saturday night, Salman Muqtadir alleged that his studio had been attacked and vandalised over an extortion-related dispute involving the owner of the property where the studio is located.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed described Muqtadir's allegation that BNP activists had vandalised his studio over extortion money as a sweeping allegation.
He said there was a dispute between two parties over the land where the studio was located and that the vandalism took place amid a dispute over occupation and control of the property.
Law enforcement agencies arrested at least seven people in connection with the incident after a case was filed accusing more than 200 people.
