The government on Sunday increased the prices of diesel, kerosene, octane and petrol by Tk 20 a litre, citing a sharp rise in international fuel prices amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
The new prices will be Tk 135 a litre for diesel, Tk 155 for kerosene, Tk 165 for octane and Tk 160 for petrol, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
The revised prices will take effect from Monday, the notification said.
The government had last increased the prices of octane and petrol by Tk 5 a litre on May 31, effective from June 1. The prices of diesel and kerosene, however, had remained unchanged.
The BPC had recently proposed to raise the prices by Tk 20 a litre.
