High Court wants list of Rohingyas registered as voters in Cox’s Bazar

The High Court has asked for a list of Rohingya individuals registered as voters in Cox's Bazar.

A High Court bench, comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque, on Wednesday directed the deputy commissioner of the district and other relevant parties to submit the list to the court by June 6.

Furthermore, the court issued an order for the removal of 38 Rohingyas from the voter list of Eidgaon union in Cox's Bazar.

Supreme Court lawyer Md Siddik Ullah Mia, on behalf of local voter Md Hamidur Rahman, lodged a writ petition with the High Court on Tuesday seeking directives for the disclosure of the number of Rohingyas enlisted as voters in Cox's Bazar. Additionally, it called for instructions to exclude them from the voter registry and to halt polling in Eidgaon union until the list is revised.

Lawyer Md Siddik Ullah Mia said 38 Rohingyas had received NID cards of Bangladesh following their inclusion in the voter list of Eidgaon union.
