Blinken meets Prof Yunus
US affirms support for reforms, investment, and elections in Bangladesh

The United States has extended its support and assistance to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, led by Professor Muhammad Yunus, during a meeting between Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Yunus. The discussion also emphasized the importance of reforms in Bangladesh to ensure continued foreign direct investment, while reaffirming U.S. support for free and fair elections.
These issues were addressed when Blinken met with Professor Yunus on Thursday in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to a readout from the State Department, both Secretary Blinken and Chief Advisor Yunus affirmed their shared vision of strengthening the U.S.-Bangladesh partnership.
Blinken highlighted U.S. assistance to the Interim Government as it works to steer the country towards economic stability, stressing the need for reforms to attract sustained foreign investment.
He reiterated U.S. support for free and fair elections, aiming to secure a democratic, inclusive, and equitable future for all Bangladeshis.
