Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has hiked the retail price of 12 kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders by Tk 212. The current price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder is now Tk 1940. It was Tk 1,728 previously.
BERC issued a press release, signed by its secretary Nazrul Islam Sarker, in this regard on Sunday.
Earlier, on April 2 this year, the price of a 12 kg cylinder was increased by Tk 387.
BERC said today that due to the war situation in the Middle East and the resulting Hormuz Strait restriction, the cost of importing LPG has increased.
The new LPG price will come into effect from 6:00 pm.
