Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has started presenting the national budget of Tk 568,000 crore for the 2020-21 fiscal in parliament.
The Finance minister began the rolling out the budget around 3:04pm.
The budget is being placed when the country is reeling under adverse social and economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
This is the second budget of Awami League’s third successive term in power and also the second one for Mustafa Kamal as the Finance mMinister.
Earlier, president Abdul Hamid authenticated the national budget and the revised budget for placing before the Jatiya Sangsad.
The revenue collection target for the coming fiscal year is Tk 378,000 crore. Of the amount the NBR has been tasked to realize a revenue collection target of Tk 330,000 crore, the Non-NBR revenue collection target is Tk 15,000 crore while the Non-tax revenue collection target is Tk 33,000 crore. Besides, Taka 4,013 crore will come from foreign grants.
The Finance minister read out some parts of the budget while rest of the parts were shown in multimedia presentation in between his budget speech.
