Popular television actor Waliul Haq Rumi lost his battle with cancer at a private hospital in the capital on Monday.
After a prolonged illness, he breathed his last in the early hours of the day while undergoing treatment at the hospital, as confirmed by his family source, according to local media.
He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter. Rumi, who hailed from Barisal, will be buried in his hometown next to his mother's grave.
The actor has been suffering from colon cancer for a long time. He was taken to India’s Chennai for advanced treatment. He was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka after returning to Bangladesh.
Waliul Haq Rumi made his acting debut with BTV's popular drama 'Kon Kanoner Phool'. After that, he acted in many television dramas. He also performed in popular stage plays including 'Ekhno Kreetodas'. He made his silver screen debut with the film "Doriaparer Douloti" in 2009.
