Delhi CM Kejriwal Covid positive, in self-isolation

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said he has tested positive for Covid-19 and is in home-isolation with mild symptoms.

"I have tested positive for Covid. Mild symptoms. Have isolated myself at home. Those who came in touch wid (with) me in last few days, kindly isolate urself (yourself) and get urself tested," Kejriwal wrote in a Twitter post.

Driven by Omicron which has overtaken Delta variant, Delhi has reported an exponential rise of Covid positive cases with 4,099 new cases in the 24 hours till last evening.

According to an official statement, the positivity rate in Delhi is 6.46 percent, the highest since May 2020. As many as 6,288 Covid-19 patients and suspected cases are in home isolation.

Kejriwal has been campaigning for his Aam Admi Party in Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab where fresh assembly polls are due in a few months.

Omicron is now dominant in Delhi as 81 percent of the samples sent for genome sequencing found evidence of the fast-spreading virus.

Delhi, along with Kolkata and Mumbai, is one of the three major metro cities of India witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases for the last one week.
