Saudi Arabia to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr Wednesday

Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday as a new moon was not sighted on Monday evening after Maghrib prayers.

Muslims in Saudi Arabia and neighbouring countries will fast one more day, completing 30 days of Ramadan.

Tuesday will be the last day of Ramadan, and Wednesday will be the first day of Shawwal, marking the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr, according to Saudi media, reports Gulf News.

The sighting of the crescent moon determines the first day of Shawwal, which marks Eid-ul-Fitr.

Eid-ul-Fitr, the "festival of breaking the fast", is celebrated at the end of the fasting month of Ramadan by Muslims worldwide.
