Six injured as bus plunges into canal in Sunamganj

Six people were injured as a bus carrying 25 passengers plunged into a road-side canal at Ujanigaon-Nilpur area of Sunamganj Sadar upazila on Tuesday.

The accident took place around 11am on Tuesday when the driver of the bus lost control over the steering, said Mizanur Rahman, police super of Sunamganj.

Fire Service and Civil Defence rescued the six people and sent them to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for treatment.

A team of divers from Sylhet and two units of Sunamganj fire services conducted a search operation for two hours in the canal to discover if anyone had drowned, but none such had been found.

Sunamganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Mizanur Rahman said the bus could lose control and fall due to slippery road caused by rain. "We will take necessary legal actions after an investigation."
