The death tally from Covid-19 reached 3,781 on Wednesday in Bangladesh as health authorities reported 41 new deaths in the last 24 hours.
On average around 40 people have died from the disease per day over the past week in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, 2,747 new patients were detected across the county spiking the total cases to 2,85,091 since the first detection of the disease on March 8.
These data were revealed through a press release sent by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Ninety one labs tested 14,678 samples in the last 24 hours and so far 13,93,497 samples have been tested in the country. Against the total number of tests, 20.46 percent have turned out to be positive.
The number of recoveries reached 165,738 including 2,913 recovery of patients during the period. The recovery rate in Bangladesh has climbed to 58.1 percent.
The daily infection rate on Wednesday declined to 18.72 percent while fatality rate increased to 1.33 percent.
According to DGHS, men account for 79 percent of total deaths while women 21 percent.
Of the new deceased, 24 are above 60 years and 11 others between 51 and 60 years.
Since March 18, over 1,812 died in Dhaka, 850 in Chattogram, 250 in Rajshahi, 309 in Khulna, 147 in Barishal, 174 in Sylhet, 157 in Rangpur and 82 died in Mymensingh division.
Among the 41 new deceased, 38 died at hospitals and three at home.
Currently, 20,280 people are in isolation while over 53 00 are home and institutionally quarantined in the country.
