Tangail town BCL president held for attacking fellow leader

A court in Tangail on Friday sent Tangail town unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League president Meer Wasedul Islam Tanjil to jail in a case over attacking another BCL leader in the district town.

Tangail judicial magistrate Sumon Kumar Karmaker passed the order after the police produced him before the court Friday morning, said Tangail court inspector Tanvir Ahmed.

Tangail sadar police officer-in-charge Md Mosharof Hossen said that they arrested Tanjil, the prime accused in attacking of BCL leader Fahim Khan Dweep on July 9, from Thanapara area of the town Thursday night.

On the night of July 9, Meer Wasedul Islam Tanjil and his associate, armed with sharp weapons, attacked town BCL executive committee member Fahim Khan Dweep on Victoria road of Tangail town, leaving Fahim critically injured.

On the following day, Fahim’s mother Shahin Ara Mistho, also women affairs secretary of Tangail town unit of Mahila Awami League, filed a case accusing Tanjil as prime accused.
