Law enforcers have arrested two more people including the member of Eklashpur Union Parishad to whom the Noakhali woman sought help in taking legal steps against the perpetrators.
The arrestees are Moazzem Hossain Sohag, a member of ward 9 of Eklashpur Union Parishad and Saju (21) of East EKlashpur village, fifth accused in the case filed over the incident.
Harunur Rashid Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Noakhali Sadar Model Police Station, said Sohag was arrested from his residence in Joykrisnopur village and Saju was arrested from Shahbagh area in Dhaka early today.
On the day following the gang-rape on September 2, the Noakhali woman had gone to the UP member seeking his help in taking the matter to the police, but to no avail.
With the arrest of the two, a total of six people including Badal and "Delwar Bahini" chief Delwar were arrested amid widespread outrage over the incident.
