A university student in Gopalganj's Kotalipara area has been accused of raping a 9th grade schoolgirl.
The accused allegedly captured the rape on a mobile phone and threatened to release it on Facebook if the victim disclosed the incident.
The incident took place on Saturday at a fish farm located in Dharabashail village in Pinjuri union of Kotalipara upazila.
The victim's father filed a rape case with the Kotalipara police station on Monday.
The victim said she was forcefully picked up on a motorcycle by the accused Ali Hossain on her way home from a local market on Saturday. She was then taken to the fish enclosure in Dharabashail village.
“Ali Hossain asked me to have intercourse with him in a temporary room in Gherpar. When I refused, he beat me and then began to rape me. His friend Masud Hawladar recorded the scene on his mobile phone. Afterwards, they threatened to release the video on Facebook if I told anyone about the incident or refused to listen to them in the future,” she said.
Demanding exemplary punishment for the culprits, the victim’s father said: “The two men who committed this heinous crime against my daughter should be hanged.”
Kotalipara police inspector (investigation) Md Zakaria said a rape case has been filed based on the allegations made by the schoolgirl's father. The student will be sent to the hospital on Tuesday for a medical examination. Efforts are underway to arrest those involved in the incident.
However, Mohsin Hawlader, the father of the accused university student Ali Hossain, said: “My son has been framed conspiratorially. He is incapable of doing something like that.”
