In the last 24-hours, seventeen people have died from Covid-19 in the country and 1,659 new infections were recorded in the meantime, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of deaths has now reached 5,983 and the death rate stands at 1.45 percent. With the newest infections, the number of people total infected people has now reached 4,12,647.
The current positivity rate is 11.80 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 17.37 percent.
A total of 14,061 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours. At least 1,886 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.
The total number of recoveries stands at 3,29,787 and the recovery rate at 79.92 percent.
Among the 17 deceased, 16 were men and one woman. One of the deceased was between 11-20 years old, one within 31-40, four between 41-50, three between 51-60 and eight others were above 60 years old, added the release.
