Twenty-eight more people died of COVID-19 and 1847 people were detected with coronavirus infection across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours ending at 8:00am Saturday.
With the new figures, the number of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,45,281 and the number of deaths hits 6,350, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
A total of 12,643 samples were tested in the past 24 hours and 14.61 per cent of them tested positive for COVID-19, the DGHS said in its daily update.
Bangladesh on March 8 confirmed the first cases of COVID-19 and the first death on March 18.
The country’s case positivity rate is now 16.90 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.43 per cent.
The DGHS in its daily update said that among the 28 new deaths, none died at home in the past 24 hours.
Among the new deaths, 16 died in Dhaka division, three died each in Chattogram and Rajshahi, two died each in Khulna and Barishal, and one died each in Sylhet and Rangpur divisions.
Of the deceased, 19 were above 60 years of age, six were in between 51 and 60 years, one was in between 41 and 50 years, one was in between 31 and 40 years and one was in between 11 and 20 years.
So far, 3,60,352 COVID-19 patients have recovered in the country, including 1,921 in the past 24 hours.
