Police today pressed charges against a suspended Ghoraghat UNO office employee in connection with the vicious hammer attack on Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Wahida Khanam and her father at her official residence in Dinajpur on September 2.
Imam Jafor, officer-in-charge of the Detective Branch of police in Dinajpur and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet before a local court against suspended staffer Rabiul, who worked as a gardener at the residence.
The court also recorded the statement of the accused under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), the IO added.
The official said the charge sheet was made against the accused on the basis of forensic report and intensive investigation.
On September 3, UNO Wahida's elder brother Sheikh Farid Uddin filed a case with Ghoraghat police station in connection with the attack. Five people, including Rabiul and a local Jubo League leader, were arrested later.
