Unidentified miscreants vandalised an under construction sculpture of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Panch Rasta Moar area of Kushtia early Saturday.
The sculpture is being constructed in the area in association with Kushtia municipality.
The miscreants smashed the right hand, entire face and some parts of the left hand of the sculpture at around 2:00am, the police said.
Kushtia superintendent of police SM Tanvir Arafat said that they collected CCTV footage of the incident.
Two people were seen vandalising the sculpture, he said, adding that stern action would be taken against the miscreants after identifying them.
A group of Awami League leaders and activists staged a demonstration seeking immediate punishment of the miscreants who vandalised the sculpture.
