A member of Parbatya Chattogram Jana Samhati Samiti (MN Larma) was gunned down by unknown miscreants at Pakujjechhari village under Rupokari union of Baghaichari upazila in Rangmati early today.
The deceased was identified as Ratan Chakma alias Bidhan, son of Buddha Mangal Chakma of Pakujjechhari village, Muhammad Ashraf Uddin, officer-in-charge of Baghaichari Police Station, confirmed.
Quoting locals, OC Ashraf said some miscreants surrounded the house of Ratan Chakma at around 1:00am last night.
They broke the door and opened fire on Ratan while he was sleeping, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC said.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
No case was filed in connection with the murder till filing this report, the OC added.
