Cyber Tribunal refuses to accept application under Digital Security Act against Hefajat leader Mamunul

A tribunal in Dhaka refused to accept an application filed against Hefajat-e-Islam Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque under the Digital Security Act.

Judge Ash Shams Joglul Hossain of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal did not accept the application after Bangabandhu Foundation founder Moshiur Malek submitted it in the morning today.

While refusing the application, the judge said police can file such cases or applications for such offences under the Digital Security Act.

Public Prosecutor Nazrul Islam Shamim told The Daily Star that the tribunal refused to accept the application as police will file such cases against any person as per the DSA.

The complaint was filed accusing Mamunul as he made "anti-state remarks" on November 13 at the BMA Auditorium in the capital's Topkhana Road area.

During a live programme on his verified Facebook page, Mamunul on December 7 night termed Muktijuddho Moncho an "extremist organization" and said he never made a disrespectful comment against Bangabandhu.
