Public univs get permission to hold final exams

The University Grants Commission in a virtual meeting with vice-chancellors of 39 public universities on Sunday gave permission to hold bachelors and masters final examinations on conditions amid the COVID-19 situation.

The conditions include not opening residential halls and holding the exams maintaining World Health Organisation health guidelines. Examinees will be allowed to enter respective campuses an hour before the examinations and will have to leave within an hour after the exams end.

The universities will have to complete practical classes and their evaluations immediately, the conditions say adding that the academic councils of the respective universities will fix the examination routines.

The UGC further requested the public universities to continue online classes.

UGC chairman Kazi Shahidullah, who presided the meeting, also requested the VCs to hold the exams by rotations for avoiding any controversy.
