A case has been filed over the death of Hefajat-e-Islam's supreme leader Shah Ahmad Shafi, terming his death as "pre-planned murder".

Md Mainuddin, Shafi's brother-in-law, lodged the case with the court of Chattogram Judicial Magistrate-3 around 12:00pm, accusing 36 persons including Hefajat leader Maulana Mamunul Haque, also secretary general of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish.

Taking it into cognisance, the court ordered PBI to investigate the case and submit its report in one month, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting court sources.

Mainuddin told, "We brought murder charges against the 36, including Mamunul Haque, as Shafi hujur was murdered in a pre-planned way."

"Before his death, he was mentally tortured and his oxygen mask was removed during the unrest at Hathazari Madrasa," he said.
