A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion in Teknaf upazila under Cox’s Bazar in the early morning on Tuesday.
A text message of RAB-15 said that the gunfight took place at Shamlapour area of Baharchara, a coastal union under Teknaf police station.
RAB did not give the identity of the deceased or any other details.
RAB said it seized arm, bullets and contraband Yaba tablets from his possession.
This was a rare gunfight reported in Teknaf since the killing retired army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan in police firing in the area in July.
RAB claimed that two RAB members were also injured in the gunfight.
