Covid-19: Bangladesh records 30 more deaths

Bangladesh has logged 30 deaths from coronavirus in the 24 hours till Monday morning, taking the overall tally to 7,359.

The total number of coronavirus cases surged to 504,868 as the health authorities recorded 1,367 fresh cases in the 24-hour span.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the updated figures through a regular press release on Wednesday.

A total of 15,932 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, of which 8.58% tested positive.

This is the fourth consecutive day where the infection rate has been lower than 10%.

Deceased

Of the 30 victims, 21 were male, 9 female and all of them died while receiving treatment at hospitals.

Of the total number of deceased, 18 were aged above 60, five were above fifty and five in their 40s, the press release said.

The division-wise data show that 16 deaths took place in Dhaka division, nine in Chittagong, two in Rangpur, and one each in Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal.

Recovery

The recovery count rose to 444,345 after another 2,416 patients recovered successfully during the period.

A total of 3,122,426 samples have so far been tested since the detection of the first Covid-19 cases in the country.

Currently, 11,913 are in isolation while 39,549 have been kept in quarantine.
