Daughter gets bail on condition of not misbehaving with mother

The High Court on Wednesday granted bail for six months to a daughter on condition that she would no more misbehave with her old mother.

The online vacation bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman asked the lower court to cancel Wasima Begum’s bail if she misbehaved with her 60-year mother Momena Begum.

The bench also asked the government to explain in four weeks why she would not be granted regular bail.

The HC granted bail to Wasima in a suo motu ruling after watching TV news, where her two babies were seen crying in the Dhaka chief metropolitan magistrate’s court on Tuesday for getting their mother back from jail.

Two-year-old Yasin and his three-year-old sister Tumpa had been visiting the court with a neighbour and were crying after remaining detached from their parents for six days.

Supreme Court lawyers Moniruzzaman Asad, Shishir Manir and Cumar Debul Dey brought the matter to the notice of the court.

The bench faxed the bail order to the chief metropolitan court of Dhaka to facilitate Wasima’s release as early as possible.

The Bangshal police on Friday arrested Wasima and her husband Md Tofayel after metropolitan magistrate Mamunur Rashid issued an arrest warrant in a case filed against the couple for beating Momena and misappropriating her money.

The metropolitan magistrate later sent the couple to jail rejecting their bail prayers.
