Rapid Action Battalion seized snake venom valuing Tk 75 crore and arrested six alleged smugglers from Dhaka’s Dakshinkhan area.
The arrested are Masud Rana, Sofir Uddin Sanu, Tamjidul Islam Monir, Alamgir Hossain, Firoza Begum, and Asma Begum.
The six were arrested while they were collecting venom at Gulbar Munsi Sarani area Thursday afternoon, said Abdullah Al Mamun, assistant director of RAB-2.
The venom is worth around Tk 75 crore, he added.
The arrested are members of an international snake venom smuggling racket, RAB officials suspected.
During primary interrogation, the arrested admitted that they collected the venom from different areas to supply to a ring who smuggled these abroad.
