Fourth war-time bomb found under the ground at Dhaka airport

A fourth wartime bomb, weighing about 250kg, has been found while excavating for the construction of the third terminal of Shahjalal International Airport.

According to a press release, while piling at the construction site of the third terminal of the airport on Monday, the workers found another general purpose (GP) bomb buried in the ground.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate published the press release in this regard which said the authorities Air Force Bangabandhu Base Bomb Disposal Unit rushed to the spot and defused the bomb.

Later, the bomb was carefully carried to a safe place for demolition.

On December 9, the first wartime bomb was found buried in the ground, the second one was found on December 14, while the third one was found on December 19 at the construction site of the third terminal of the airport.

Bomb experts are speculating that all four bombs were dropped to the ground during the Liberation War of 1971.

The scene of the third terminal which is outside the main airport area, is now safe.
