Two tourists drown in remote waterfall in Khagrachhari

Two young tourists have died, drowning in a waterfall, in Matiranga upazila of Khagrachhari.

The deceased were identified as Pritam Debnath, 18, of Khagrachhari Sadar and Apu Chandra Das, 22, of Lakshmipur Sadar.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the young men went to bathe in a distant and remote waterfall that’s past the popular Risang waterfall, say locals.

Khagrachhari Tourist Police Inspector Santosh Dhamai said locals on Thursday afternoon spotted a body in the water and informed the police.

Later, Matiranga police recovered both the bodies and sent it to the Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
