A passenger boat was capsized at Ghat No. 12 area of Karnaphuli river under Patenga police station on Tuesday morning.
The accident took place at about 8:45 am when a wooden engine-driven boat was crossing the river from Patenga Ghat to Anwara, Lieutenant Commander Habibur Rahman, staff officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard east zone told New Age.
Two teams of coast guard were conducting the search operation to rescue the missing passengers. But the exact figure of missing passengers could not be known immediately, he said.
'The boat was carrying 15-20 passengers according to locals,' he added.
