A mother and daughter have died in a fire originated from an electric transmitter in Eliotgonj under Comilla's Daudkandi upazila.
Four houses were burnt to ashes in the fire. The mother and daughter were trapped inside inside, one of them.
The fire broke out at 10pm on Tuesday at Bhelanagar village in Eliotgonj North union of Daudkandi upazila.
The deceased were identified as Saleha Begum, wife of Mohammad Ali Bhuiyan of Bhelanagar village and her youngest daughter Farzana Akter.
Daudkandi police station OC Mohammad Nazrul Islam confirmed theincident and said primarily it is suspected that the fire broke out from an electric transmitter.
However, the house also has a gas cylinder. On this winter night, everyone in the family fell asleep early. They did not realize when the fire started and the mother and daughter were burnt to death.
