Awami League on Tuesday dropped the name of attorney general AM Amin Uddin from the list of members of the party’s information and research sub-committee.
Instead of Amin, the name of advocate Mansurul Haque Chowdhury was included in the committee, said a release.
The name of the attorney general was dropped to keep the committee as well as attorney general beyond controversy, the committee member-secretary Selim Mahmud said in the release.
He said that a section of people exploited the issue to make the attorney general post controversial giving a ‘misinterpretation’ of the Constitution.
On February 18, AL general secretary Obaidul Quader approved the party’s information and research sub-committee formed with former Rajshahi University vice-chancellor Sayeedur Rahman Khan as its chairman and AL information and research secretary Selim Mahmud as the member-secretary.
Attorney general Amin Uddin was made a member of the committee.
